About
Each year, MK Hustwayte makes a promise to herself to learn or do at least one new thing; whether it’s jumping out of planes or swimming with sharks, learning a new art form, or traveling to a new place. It isn’t necessarily a bucket list; just doing something new each year.
In 2017, MK decided to take a stained glass class at the Torpedo Factory just outside of Washington, D.C. There, this all dressed in black, tattooed covered maverick, was introduced to the wonderful world of bright colored glass that made her eyes look like a wide-eyed emoji. Over the years, her passion has continued to grow into three-dimensional design.
MK set up a studio space in Washington, D.C. and decided to start Empire Glashaus in January 2020. With a background in design, MK has an eye for colorful aesthetic while blending modern design. Her mission is to brighten homes all over the world with beautiful handcrafted art pieces that bring positive energy.
